What you will learn
Please join us as we welcome cookbook author and blogger Anupy Singla to the Sur La Table kitchen! In this special demonstration-style class, Anupy will help demystify all the different types of curry. While making several of her favorite dishes she’ll help you understand the difference between a real Indian curry and the powders you can buy at the grocery. Also, she’ll demonstrate how to make the most popular bread in South Asia – and it’s not Naan!
After class you’ll be making authentic Indian cuisine in no time, blowing away the myth that Indian food has to be complicated.
About Anupy
Anupy comes from a family passionate about cooking. Born in India and raised outside of Philadelphia, she grew up visiting her father’s childhood village in India. Her first cooking lesson was with her paternal grandfather who schooled her in traditional, spicy Punjabi-style cooking. It was this passion that convinced Anupy to leave her daily reporting job at CLTV to teach her young girls how to appreciate and eat good Indian food – much as her mother had done for her. She has written two cookbooks: The Indian Slow Cooker and Vegan Indian Cooking. You can read about her experiences on her blog, www.indianasapplepie.com.
